寄件到美國 退回(急!20點)

想請問大約一個多月前寄了一封掛號信到美國
但因為收件人不在家所以沒收到
但又來不及請郵局重新送一次
所以信被退回
但信一直沒有回來
上USPS查了之後信卻從收件人那州送到了紐約!
為什麼會這樣?
因為信裡有重要的東西跟信
很希望趕快拿回來!
