（中央社羅馬2013年10月11日綜合外電報導）路透社報導，義大利海軍說，西西里島（Sicily）和突尼西亞之間一艘移民船翻覆，可能有約200多名乘客在海中。義大利新聞社（ANSA）報導，有人看到海上漂浮的屍體。

義大利海軍發言人說：「至少有200人在海中，我們有幾架直升機在救援。」他說，現場還有兩艘義大利船隻。

沉船地點在義大利最南端的拉姆培杜薩島（Lampedusa Island）外海70英里（約120公里）處。

馬爾他（Malta）海軍發言人說，馬爾他當局也參與這項協同搜救行動，沉船地點在馬爾他海域，一艘馬爾他船隻在現場。

美聯社報導，馬爾他一架軍機先看到這起船難，之後要求義大利援助。

英國廣播公司（BBC）引述義大利媒體報導，這艘船上載的是索馬利亞和厄利垂亞（Eritrea）難民。
