日本首相兼執政黨「自民黨」總裁「安倍晉三」，在接受日本媒體採訪時，明確表示，日本現階段無法不依賴核電。他強調，日本現階段，最需要確保電力的穩定供應；從負責任的立場來說，他無法主張日本現階段「零核電」。

不過自民黨的友黨「公明黨」黨魁「山口那津男」則對安倍的立場，持保留態度，自民黨與公明黨內部分歧要如何消弭，有待觀察。
