35億年歷史 最老完整化石出土

（中央社華盛頓13日綜合外電報導）1塊可能是地球上歷史最悠久的完整化石最近出土，它氣味難聞，但卻讓我們回到近35億年前，活靈活現地描繪出人類微生物祖先的可能樣貌。

美聯社今天報導，這塊化石上，曾住著一團紫綠相間、黏呼呼又氣味難聞的單細胞微生物，牠們像是在史前微生物社會中工作與生活。

美國老道明大學（Old Dominion University）學者諾福克（Nora Noffke），在澳洲西部沙岩中發現這塊化石上的生命遺跡。

研究人員說，這些生物可能是我們的祖先。

研究報告共同作者、華盛頓卡內基科學研究所（Carnegie Institution of Science）礦物學家赫森（Robert Hazen）表示，澳洲新出土的化石約0.83公分厚，比先前發現的最古老完整化石還要早3億年。先前也有與澳洲這塊化石年代相近的化石出土，不過較不完整，也還有爭議。
