雖然在Google I/O 2013期間曾透露將釋出對應Google Glass的Glass Development Kit (GDK)，不過目前看起來Google方面暫時尚未對外提供此項開發工具組，而希望開發者暫時先以API Level 15的Android SDK替代，並且提供部分示範內容工作參考。

根據TechCrunch網站引述Google Glass團隊Alain Vongsouvanh於個人Google+透露消息，表示原訂針對開發者釋出的Glass Development Kit目前仍在趕工當中，因此建議開發者可以先透過API Level 15的Android SDK替代，藉此先針對Google Glass應用App進行開發。同時，Google也釋出Google Glass基本功能示範內容，包含碼錶、水平儀、指南針等硬體功能連結等。

以目前針對Google Glass應用功能仍因為API問題而有所限制，而本身主要以Android 4.0.4平台為基礎，因此對於熟悉Android平台開發者而言，搭配開發工具進行設計並不會有困難。之後僅需等Google開放相關API內容，即可配合直接存取Google Glass相關硬體資源，進而發揮更進一步的應用功能。
